Move Up Cycling Club Code of Conduct

Purpose

The Move Up Cycling Club (the “Club”) is dedicated to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members. The following Code of Conduct outlines the standards and behaviors expected of all members, participants, and affiliates of the Club to ensure the safety, enjoyment, and respect of all individuals involved in our activities.

General Principles

1. Respect for Others
– Treat all members, participants, volunteers, and the public with respect, dignity, and courtesy.
– Avoid any form of harassment, discrimination, or bullying.

2. Integrity and Honesty
– Conduct oneself with honesty and integrity in all dealings related to the Club.
– Uphold the principles of fair play and sportsmanship.

3. Compliance with Laws and Regulations
– Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and rules set forth by governing bodies, including traffic laws while riding.
– Adhere to the rules and regulations of the cycling events and competitions in which we participate.

4. Safety
– Prioritize safety at all times, both on and off the bike.
– Wear appropriate safety gear, including helmets, during all rides and events.
– Report any unsafe conditions or behaviors to the appropriate Club officials.

Specific Expectations

1. On the Bike
– Follow all road rules and traffic laws.
– Ride predictably and maintain control of your bicycle.
– Signal your intentions to other riders and road users.
– Be mindful of your surroundings and considerate of other cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists.

2. Off the Bike
– Represent the Club positively at all times.
– Support and encourage fellow members, especially newcomers.
– Respect the property and facilities used during Club activities.

3. Events and Competitions
– Compete fairly and respect the rules of competition.
– Refrain from the use of performance-enhancing drugs or substances.
– Respect the decisions of race officials and organizers.

Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination Policy

The Club is committed to providing an environment free from harassment and discrimination. Harassment or discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status will not be tolerated. Any member found to be engaging in such behavior will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of membership.

Reporting and Enforcement

1. Reporting Violations
– Members are encouraged to report any violations of this Code of Conduct to Club officials or designated contacts.
– Reports can be made confidentially and without fear of retaliation.

2. Investigation and Disciplinary Action
– The Club will promptly investigate all reports of violations.
– Disciplinary actions may include warnings, suspension, or termination of membership, depending on the severity of the violation.

The Club is dedicated to continually improving its policies and practices. Feedback from members is welcomed and will be considered in the ongoing effort to create a positive and inclusive environment for all.
